Improvising music is a dynamic process requiring attention and creativity. Participants need to manage diversity, uncertainty and complexity, as well as the dynamic tension between sustaining the group’s music and being creative. These challenges require collaboration, listening and attending, freeing space for everyone’s musical voice to emerge and knowing when to lead or support. Whenever a group connects to a musical groove they all immediately sense it; the reward is instantaneous and pleasurable which makes the challenge very worthwhile.

This series led by Peter Forrester and Eyal Chipkiewicz will build on these concepts, using elements of conducted improvisation, listening and participating exercises, and fundamental notions of time, rhythm and dynamics.

We are looking for people willing to engage in a dynamic exploration of group improvisation, and of their own capacity to listen and contribute.
