DESCRIPTION:Cooking up a Convo with Jaime Wilson – Immigrant Theatre\nIn Australia the concept of migration is part of our daily vocabulary. Jaime Wilson discusses the distinction between immigrant and universal art\, drawing on his own vast experience as a migrant and theatre person. As historian Robert Harney pointed out\, immigrant theatre\, more than any other institution\, served to “affirm the existence of ethnic community.”\n\nAbout Jaime\nJaime Wilson has worked as an actor\, drama teacher and theatre director for more than 40 years in Chile as well as Australia. As an actor he performed in important theatre productions in Chile. In Australia he has directed several plays and theatre groups\, and teaches Drama in High Schools. Jaime has travelled extensively throughout South America researching how theatre is produced in different communities and geographies. In Melbourne he formed “The Bridge\, Teatro Latino”\, a theatre company whose aims are to produce theatre that represents the view and the spirit of the Latin American people. \n\n\n\nThursday\, February 28 at 6:30pm\n\n\nUpstairs at Alisha’s Café Collective\n\n\nTickets through www.trybooking.com/BARAG\n\n\n$30 (Dinner and convo)\n\n\n$10 (Just convo)\n\n\n \n\n\n—————————\n\n\n \n\n\nIn support Alisha’s Café Collective‘s aim of creating happier people and Casa Cultura’s mission of nurturing a collaborative and connected community that embraces and celebrates diversity\, we are partnering to offer a series of conversations with inspirational people that bring their knowledge and experience to contribute to our health\, confidence\, creativity and wellbeing. \n\n\n \n\n\nThese events will be hosted over dinner\, upstairs at Alisha’s\, in a relaxed environment making them not at all a lecture\, but more of a table-side conversation where questions\, retorts and insights are more than welcome.\n\n\n \n\n\nDinner your choice of plate (see below) and a cup of chai.\n\n\n \n\n\nEast of the Middle Plate\n\n\nFlavours from India and its surrounds including rice\, curries\, roti\, spicy pickles and seasonal spiced besan battered veggies.\n\n\n \n\n\nMiddle of the East Plate\n\n\nGateaux Piment (Mauritian chili cake)\, brown lentil rice\, seasonal Moroccan spiced veggies\, haloumi cheese\, warm pita bread\, baba ganoush\, hommus and besan floured veggies.\n\n\n \n\n\nWest of the Middle Plate\n\n\nDeep fried polenta\, mushroom rago\, pesto roast pumpkin\, balsamic Caprisi salad\, pasta salad with chili oil\, grated zucchini and parmesan\, lentil Bolognese sauce and antipasti bits with crusty garlic bread.
